How it all Started
Team Spirit was founded on the belief that we can do more to help fight and raise awareness of breast and ovarian cancers in our local community. After being personally touched by both of these diseases, Team Spirit was formed in 2000 as a small grass roots organization. Team Spirit consists of volunteer survivors and friends, working for those fighting, and in honor of those who have lost their battle. Team Spirit has collaborated with Memorial Medical Center Foundation at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center since its inception. LBMMC, with multiple locations throughout Southern California, has received national recognition for its outstanding record of innovation and medical advances.

Team Spirit is dedicated to raising money for providing support of and promoting awareness in the treatment, research and emotional well-being of breast and ovarian cancer patients in its community.
To ensure this mission is upheld, Team Spirit holds an annual 5K and 10K event, with the proceeds donated directly to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Foundation. Team Spirit continues to play an increasingly important role in philanthropic support at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Funds raised benefit women and men in and outside of Long Beach looking for nationally recognized medical care of breast and ovarian cancers.
We are proud to be walking and running for Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, as it is one of the top hospitals in the nation, and the proceeds from the monies you raise go directly to fund support groups, treatment and clinical research at Memorial Medical Center.
