Team Spirit has announced the Individual and Team grand prizes for the walk. Prizes will be awarded to the top three individuals and teams that raise the most donations for this Saturday’s event. To be eligible, all donations must be turned in either on-site or on-line by the start of the walk.

The All Women Demolition Derby at Toyota Irwindale Speedway was a huge success this past weekend. Team Spirit driver Sara Pollaro crashed her way to a 4th place finish out of 13 entries and $150 prize money for the cause. The car was on display before the race and the announcers did a fine job of plugging the walk during the event. Special thanks to Wendy & Tina Miller of Team Spirit for helping to coordinate a great night along with the staff at the speedway including Kevin O'Brien and Mary Gonzalez. Cindy Gotz, MPH, CHES, will be presenting “Peer to Peer Mentoring for Women with Gynecologic Cancer: Women Guiding Women” during the poster session for Holistic Practices and Training at the 136th annual conference of the American Public Health Association (APHA) in San Diego, CA, October 25th-29th, 2008.  This presentation covers the need for and the development of training for survivors of gynecologic cancer to become peer mentors.  Curriculum was developed to educate survivors and create a network of volunteers to assist others either over the phone or in person. Designed as a six module course, the methods of instruction include; didactic lecture, multi-media presentations, group discussion, self-study, experiential learning and role play.
